2018 BIKERS CONVERGE

The Rock City Motor Cycle (RCMC) bikers club of Ogun state have preparations in top gear ahead of its 4th Bikers Convention in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
The convention which is held in conjunction with the Association of Nigerian Motor Cycles, (ANMC) will attract bikers from across the country. The bikers are made up of professionals from different sector of the country including business, banking, maritime etc.
ANMC the mother body for bikers in Nigeria organises yearly nationwide convention where all bikers come together to have fun and discuss issues of common interest.
The RCMC captained by Big Dee believes that the convention which will hold between July 27 and 29

in Abeokuta will be a memorable one for bikers across the country.

The Bikers Converge expects riders from other states to grace the three-day convention which promises to be fun filled.
“This is good for Abeokuta and Ogun state in general. Conventions like this boosts tourism and hospitality businesses and that is why we have decided to organise it in Abeokuta,” Baba Dee said.
He noted that bikers are not jobless people contrary to the opinion of some people. “Bikers are responsible people, they are people who are professionals in their field but they like to ride the bike.
“Biking is an exercise and I encourage Nigerians to join us as we hold this mind blowing convention,” Baba Dee urged.

Powerbikes speed can be controlled

Oxford Dictionary defines “accident” as an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury. Motorcycle accident can be in form of a lone accident or that which involves other road users.

When a motorcyclist is not properly protected via his/her gears, the impact is usually higher, experienced riders who have been involved in one accident or the other usually place premium on safety compare to a newbie. Experience they say is the best teacher, I have had reasons to engage riders who have been involved in motorcycle accidents and I got several terrifying stories of what they went through during and after the incidence.

Accidents always come with depression and worries; it slows down progress because the time which could have been used for productive activities would be spent at the hospital or at home. Powerbilke accidents discourages potential lovers of the sports, my gospel is that you must make the hobby attractive by always being careful and only do a speed that you can control at all times.

Motorcycles are tempting especially those that come with loud pipes, riding to impress is the worst of all, and passerby and onlookers are always fond of hailing the riders and this mostly leave the rider in regret because if adequate care is not taken, the rider will attempt what he has not mastered.

The best form of safety is “common sense”. A large number of riders still pay lip service to safety and this has sent many to early graves, know the terrain where you are riding, know who you are riding with and always anticipate and prepare for the worst on the road at all times.

THE 2016 ROAD ROAD - SUPERBIKE CLUBS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA -

SCAN is an assemblage of people with like minds that came together to pursue their common interest. This movement is borne out of the need to foster the true meaning of biking and the understanding of what it means to be a true biker in Nigeria.

The organization currently comprises of eight motorcycling clubs : 09 Motorcycle Club, Bicnics Bikers Sokoto, Capital City MC, Infinite Bikers, Jewel Bikers MC, Peace Riders MC, Ride Easy MC, Street Saintz MC.

The purpose of this program tagged the “The Road Roar 2016” is a shift from the norm where people ride from their locality to the convention ground. SCAN plans to promote the culture of tours to the convention city where they do a selected five(5) days tour gathering other bikers, clubs as the case may be along the line, promoting brotherhood and oneness among Nigerian Bikers.

The Tour is basically not more than 300-500km per day and the 5th day will be tagged “The SCAN gathering”

Super biking in Nigeria is generally regarded as a risky sport, whilst super bikers are looked upon as irresponsible and reckless. Riding on the watchwords of safety, honor and integrity, SCAN is set to assist super bike clubs to promote safety, a healthy culture of mutual understanding amongst riders, discipline and welfare within individual clubs, as well as give strategic direction to the biking community in Nigeria.
The 2016 Road Roar promises to be full of fun as men and women from different parts of the country, bound together by their passion for riding, will come together to celebrate their common interest “Motorcycling”

LEARN HOW TO BECOME A SAFE RIDER OF MOTORCYCLE @ BIKERS ACADEMY

There are a lot of people who will tell you that if you can drive a car, you’ll be fine on a motorcycle. Those people are wrong. There are some people who will tell you that you should just buy your first motorcycle and teach yourself to ride it with the help of some YouTube videos. Those people are idiots. Riding a motorcycle may be a lot like riding a heavy bicycle, but young riders who don’t know what they’re doing get themselves killed. The goal of riding a motorcycle is to have fun, not to get yourself killed.
Your best chance of having fun and not getting killed is to take one of the classes offered by BIKERS ACADEMY. These people know what they’re doing, and while you won’t be an expert rider at the end of your course, you’ll be competent at the basics. Handling a bike at low speeds and taking a corner properly are not skills that come naturally, so having people who know what they’re doing there while you practice these skills is invaluable.

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD RATHER OWN A MOTORCYLE IN NIGERIA!

Riding a motorcycle has many advantages over a car, here are the advantages:

1.   Cheaper to run: Motorcycles use less petrol than cars and the high cost of transportation in Nigeria is seriously eating deep into people’s monthly budget. Using motorcycles saves the amount of leakages in our economy reason being that our dependence on petrol would drastically reduce. Motorcycle riders are leaders in conversations and communities at large.

2.   Easier to maintain: In many ways, a motorcycle is only half a car in terms of chasis size. Motorcycles are easier to repair, reason being that the engine is more accessible, you go to the bike, pull off a side cover or seat, and there you find the engine. Motor vehicle mechanics charge exorbitantly when repairing cars as against fixing a motorcycle.

The cost of routine maintenance on motorcycles is less than that of a car. Finally, many repairs you can do yourself, like changing spark plugs or fitting a new battery.

3.   Easier to park, people who take two (2) hours to get to work in Lagos and other busy places may take as long to find a park. Getting a place to park your cars in busy business areas can be a challenge in Nigeria. Motorcycles are easier to park than cars in many ways
A bike parks in a third of the space of a car, so you can angle park a hundred bikes where only 30 cars will fit. Even in the busiest of places, there is usually a spot to park a bike.
4.   Bikes can stop anywhere; the ability to pull over anytime is a real bonus. Imagine cruising the city of Ibadan on a bike, and you get lost. On a bike you can pull over anytime, look around, read road signs and ask people around. In a car, stopping in a city will usually block the traffic flow.

When a bike pulls over, traffic flows around it, but in a car, the traffic flow forces on you, even in directions you don’t want to go! Sometimes people end up miles from where they want to be, simply because they could not stop and review the situation.

Riders can stop and look around, when a car must press on. This is great for sightseeing and looking new places.

5.   Flexible in traffic: It’s a terrible feeling of helplessness, being in a stationary line of cars with some block up ahead, maybe someone had a crash. In a car, you have to wait, however long it takes. You don’t even know how many miles the line stretches ahead. However in traffic jams, a motorcycle can usually wend its way forward, which is why traffic police in many cities have returned to using motorcycles.

6.   Less boring: the main cause of car accidents is inattention. Falling asleep at the wheel, often momentarily, happens more often than most people think. A car is comfortable, so if you are tired, your body tells you it is time to take a nap. Unfortunately, even a brief mini-nap can put you into oncoming traffic. In contrast, motorcycles wake you up, as on a bike you feel the wind, the wet, and the cold! So you are less likely to nod off “at the handlebars” than at the wheel. Riding can be unpleasant, but boring it is not, and this is an advantage.
