BAN ON OKADA RIDERS DOES NOT AFFECT POWERBIKE RIDERS IN LAGOS STATE


The Lagos state announcement on the ban of motorcycles and tricycles across the state does not in any way extend to the mobility of motorbikes popularly known as Power-bikes. In accordance with the official gazette of Lagos state on August 3rd, 2012 (No. 27, Vol 45). Motorcycles below 200cc engine capacity shall not be used or operated on bridges and carriage roads with two or more lanes in opposite directions;  as a motorbike rider, you are eligible to ply the roads of Lagos state provided you fulfill these conditions;

1.       Is your Motor
bike above 200cc?
2.       Do you carry a valid riders card/riding licence?
3.       Are you wearing a protective helmet?
4.       Is your motorbike duly registered with an original plate number of any state of this federation?
5.       Do you have a valid insurance for your motorbike?
6.       Do you have a valid road worthiness permit for your motorbike?

If your answers to the above mentioned questions are “YES”, then you are good to go anywhere in Lagos state. Should you be accosted by any law enforcement agent of the state while riding your motorbike, kindly be respectful and provide answers to their questions. 

Motorbike riders are law abiding citizens and they always support any government initiative that upholds sanity on our roads.
